Unusual and welcome features

Savista Retreat is a countryside boutique hotel in Jaipur with several unusual and welcome features. While we offer all the comforts and services of a hotel, we are determinedly not a typical or chain hotel.
Savista is a rare destination where you get to breathe clean air, drink pure natural water, eat farm fresh foods, and stay in the lap of nature. Set amid vast tracts of undulating cropland and farmsteads, this eco-retreat in Jaipur is a 12-acre estate of trees, gardens, meadows, fields and birds that offers a rich experience of pristine rural Rajasthan.
With its location in a village on the edge of the city, this retreat just outside of Jaipur offers an ideal balance of experiencing elegance and peace within a rural Rajasthan setting, along with easy access to Jaipur city’s historical monuments and bazaars (a 30 minute drive away), and visiting off-beat sites around Jaipur. A special feature of Savista is freedom from the air pollution and frenetic pace of Jaipur city, without compromising on access to what the city offers.
Our emphasis is on sustainable living:
- Water harvesting and ground water recharge;
- Solar energy for water heating;
- Use of organic fertilisers and pesticides in the gardens and croplands;
- A freshwater swimming pool that is chemical-free and re-used for irrigation;
- Integration with the local community in operations and produce sharing.
Our food philosophy is farm-to-fork:
- The estate grows most of its own vegetables, and all of its grains, beans and oilseeds, free from chemical fertilisers and pesticides;
- The milk and yoghurt are from livestock fed on the estate’s grass;
- Water drawn from deep bore wells on the farm provide drinking water that is safe, pure, sweet and mineral-rich.
- All these features make this retreat a socially responsible, eco-friendly and sustainable travel destination.
We are an experiential travel destination:
In keeping with our commitment to experiential travel, the facilities are numerous. Guests can combine sightseeing with unwinding by the pool; play a game of tennis, croquet, table tennis, cricket or badminton; use the fitness centre; rejuvenate with a massage/sauna/steam bath; use the library; jog around the property; or, take leisurely walks or cycle through neighbouring villages. These diverse amenities make us ideal family reunion venues for groups seeking a versatile and engaging destination.
Also on offer are a range of unique activities and cultural experiences that include:
- Block printing workshops;
- Learning from a village potter;
- Village tours and visits to rural households, and camel cart rides through the countryside;
- Yoga lessons;
- Visit to a handmade paper factory;
- Indian classical music and dance performances, and art exhibitions, as and when they are held at city auditoriums and arts centres;
- Jaipur city bazaar and heritage walks;
- Day trips to fascinating nearby places such as the temple town of Pushkar, the step-well Chand Baori at Abhaneri, the Keoladeo national bird sanctuary at Bharatpur, birdwatching at the Sambhar Salt Lake, and the Barefoot College at Tilonia.
Unlike other luxury hotels, including many boutique hotels in Jaipur, at Savista we make a conscious effort to avoid over-the-top ostentation. The focus is on design aesthetics, rustic elegance, simplicity and comfort.
We also zealously guard our character as a secluded and exclusive hotel / retreat / travel destination. The number of guest rooms is just 12 and kept deliberately so. This, when combined with the large number of facilities, makes for an exclusive ambience. It also gives us the chance to get to know our guests better and enhance the quality of their experience.
Background:
Savista’s essence largely derives from the vision of the owners whose ancestral home it is. After long careers in academia and international development both in India and overseas, they decided to return home to indulge in a new experiment in sustainable living and experiential travel. Savista is that experiment, and we guarantee that your stay here will leave you feeling like you have acquired a second home.
(Car rentals are available for airport/train station transfers, sightseeing in and around Jaipur, for travel within Rajasthan, and to/from Delhi/Agra/other cities in Rajasthan. The drivers speak English, and we take responsibility for their conduct)

Excellent Reviews on Tripadvisor
Beautiful boutique hotel
An absolutely wonderful visit to this boutique hotel. Gorgeous family home with pool and tennis court in the country outside of Jaipur.
It offers home grown food and quiet with gracious hosts. A respite from crowds of Jaipur and an excellent base for printmaking in Bagru. I look forward to returning.
Savista Retreat Is AMAZING!
I travelled to Savista Retreat in 2018 and when I left; I knew in my heart that I would be back! Savista Retreat is an incredibly beautiful and special place, and this past January (2025) I made my way back and used it as my home base for my 2-week holiday in Rajasthan. As a solo traveler, having a home base is really important to my peace of mind. The food, the atmosphere, being in nature, in addition to being around likeminded people is key for me when travelling. From my daily morning walks around the beautiful property to watching the sunset from the rooftop; my days were bathed in warm sunshine and good vibes. There are stunning places to lay out a yoga mat and I was able to have an instructor come in and give me private lessons which was a decadent treat. I spent a day nearby in Bagru doing a block printing workshop which I can’t recommend enough. Savista Retreat helped arranged top quality/ affordable drivers to take me on day trips into Jaipur as well as a trip to Pushkar to wander the bazaars and lake and an overnight adventure to visit the painted Havelis of Shekhwati. My cooking class at Savista Retreat was a highlight since I absolutely love all of the farm to table deliciousness that is prepared fresh on site. I was so sad to leave, but I’ll definitely be back!
Charming retreat
Fantastic and quiet retreat decorates on old mansion.
We were introduced to local and Indian culture, history and food by the present and knowledgeable host.
Just like we got perfect practical help with transport from the airport in Delhi and day trip to Jaipur.
Just what we needed. Healing and inspiring.
Discover Jaipur differently
We loved our stay. The hosts and staff are very welcoming and considerate. The food is delicious and the dishes are thought to be gourmet while being balanced. The activities offered by Savista allow you to discover the tourist Jaipur, while going off the beaten track. Feel free to tour the property and surrounding area to observe the many birds that populate the Rajasthan countryside. In short, a rich and relaxing stay that will leave us with beautiful memories of India.
A retreat under the stars
Tired of the noise of the city and the hustle and bustle? You've come to the right place. In the middle of fields and under a clear and starry sky, this magnificent white house is a haven of peace where the rooms are comfortable and tastefully furnished. We eat divinely well and the couple of owners are not only a well to know but they are ready to go out of their way to make your stay an unforgettable experience.
Much more than a hotel - a real home
A wonderful charming and beautiful hideaway near Jaipur with excellent rooms and a personal touch. The family run hotel is wonderfully located, calm, peaceful and a perfect location to enjoy the nature of the area. The owners are lovely. We spent two evenings together with highly interesting conversations about the world, life, philosophy and culture. I can only recommend the hotel to anyone that is looking for something extraordinary, where you feel welcome as if you return to friends or your family.
Relaxation, rejuvenation and inspiration !
I returned to Savista for the third time on my own after a break of 7 years. I have been dying to go back ever since my last trip in 2017 when I also visited alone. My first visit being in 2017 too with my 8 year old and friends.
Whether alone or with family and friends - Savista is a true haven of peace, tranquility and beauty, and a place I can truly relax and recharge. I feel so warmly welcomed and well looked after by Bhanwar and Rhadika, who treat me like a member of extended family, truly a rare thing. I spent 5 days here at the start of my trip in India in April this year, tuning into the amazing sounds of the wildlife, birds and soaking up the sun on the roof and reading books from their library. Rhadika and Bhanwar are truly the heart and soul of the Haveli, whenever we spoke they shared interesting information about the surroundings, climate, flora and fauna of the place. I was cooked for and looked after by their amazing team, simply made seasonal produce grown in the garden of Savista. I love the fact that the food is prepared and based around what is local, seasonal and available, which to me is a sign of the authenticity and freshness of the ingredients. I am not bamboozled by an extensive menu of 100's of dishes...
I combined my time relaxing with a truly inspiring trip to Bagru which was arranged by my hosts. As a textile designer I have a deep interest and passion for textiles and spend a lot of time in design studios and factories, the workshop I joined was an amazing experience and perfectly delivered, with detailed information and I learned a lot in the 4 hours I was there.
I then spent three days in Jaipur city exploring museums, galleries and antique textiles archives. Many of which were thoughtfully recommended by Rhadika, I especially enjoyed the newly opened MOMH Museum of Keenakari Heritage, which highlights the beautiful craft of Indian high jewellery using enamelware and gemstones. They prefer you to book ahead and make an appointment but were very welcoming. I also really enjoyed the Amrapali Museum of jewelry - very extensive and super helpful staff. Ending this trip, which for me was the perfect combination of relaxation and inspiration, I can't wait to return!
Exceptional
Savista is every bit as beautiful and tranquil as the photos suggest. The home cooked meals were full of dishes unlike anything we had anywhere else in India, and often featured home grown produce, including butter, milk and yogurt from their own cow. What the photos won't tell you is that Savista is owned and managed by a husband and wife team who are some of the most warm, gentle and charming people you will ever have the good fortune to meet.
Serenity and Serendipity
Staying at Savista is akin to a homecoming, even if one is not from the peaceful outskirts of Jaipur, where it awaits discovery like a jewel. We were treated like long lost relatives, looked after and taken care of like family by our lovely hosts with the support of warm, diligent staff. The hotel staff did not speak English, but were always cheerfully and kindly attentive--they were obviously treated very well by the owners, who have done an amazing job of creating an enlightened oasis amidst the tensions of modern life and a modernizing India. At Savista, everything felt very intentional, from their employment policies to the sophisticated interior design to the farm-to-table dinner menus. It was a perfect home base from which to explore the Jaipur area, but the impromptu conversations with our hosts soon became the highlight of our stay. I came to Savista looking for a little luxurious respite and found much more--a genuine connection to the surrounding land and the wonderful people who live and work there. I can't recommend it enough and I hope to be back again and again.
A splendid and memorable experience!
Savista is a traditional Jaiput countryside estate, inherited by the present owner from generations before him. It is a beautiful place, offering a peaceful vacation with countryside walks, bird watching in the garden, swimming in the pool and wide views from the roof terrace over the rural landscape. Added to this is the luxury of drinking pure well water from the tap and eat an ecological vegetarian menu prepared from home grown vegetables and fruits. Spacious rooms for guests, tastefully furnished in a Rajasthani fashion, each with fully equipped bathrooms.
The hotel owner and his wife both have a wealth of knowledge about Indian history and culture and of the development of India today. They generously share their knowledge with interested guests and you can also use their large library and collection of classical Indian music. This is something you don’t normally expect to find at a hotel, it is worth a lot.
Today, as Jaipur is growing, Savista is getting closer to the expanding habitat, enterprises and resorts of various kinds. This could be seen as threatening the peace. But with its well protected 14 acres of land, old and newly planted trees, food crops and seasonal flowers, the relative calm and unpolluted environment of Savista becomes an even greater asset compared to the city.
p.s. also read the Savista blog, guests reviews.
Savista is situated about 20 kilometers from Jaipur, 20 minutes’ drive by taxi.
Authentic experience in Rajasthan
My stay at Savista for five nights was one of the highlights of my travels through India, and a wonderful way to end two months of travel through Asia. Staying at Savista is like being welcomed into the home of old friends, and gives the opportunity to connect with other guests, the owners and the staff (if you would like) or sit quietly on the property enjoying the beautiful grounds and countryside away from the noise of the city. The rooms are spacious, clean and thoughtfully decorated with individual sundecks overlooking the pool, and the dinners were the best I ate while in India, made from the owner's handed-down family recipes. The owners are lovely and engaging, and will help plan your stay in the Jaipur area depending on your interests. The property is located approximately 45 minutes from Jaipur, so travel times should be considered when planning your time there, as this adds considerable time in the car when going into the city for the day. It should also be noted that this is not a traditional hotel --- it is a private property which offers warm, hospitable and welcoming service, but you should not expect a tv in every room as in a traditional box hotel, which for me was part of the charm and appeal. A truly unique, relaxing experience in the Rajasthan countryside.
Savista Resort is a dream destination
We spent 2 whole weeks submersed in the tranquillity of this idyllic resort. If you are looking for a big chain hotel with uniformed staff and buzzing nightlife then look elsewhere. If you want to soak up the relaxed atmosphere in beautifully maintained gardens, staff who could not do more for you and the most amazing and original Indian (healthy!) food you will find then this is for you.
All staff here are local people employed not for their hospitality backgrounds but for the sustainability of the local community. They are there to help but equally they will be very happy to leave you to doze quietly in a hammock or read a book by the pool.
Every room is individual and carefully fitted out with everything you need. The rooms are cleaned every day. Just as an illustration to the attention to detail, you are provided with slippers to wear in the room and leave you 'day' shoes outside the room.
The food is prepared on site and made with wholesome and natural ingredients. In the two weeks we were there we had a different meal chosen and prepared for us (obviously they will accommodate any dietary requirements). All dishes are carefully spiced (nothing was ever too spicy) and the variety amazed us...... so much so we have continued to cook and eat similar food since returning.
Jaipur is a typically busy bustling Indian city and Savista brings a welcome rest from the manic noise of the city. Whilst a good 30 minute taxi ride fares are cheap and we often just hired a driver, arranged by Savista, for the day.
The best suggestion we could make to people planning a visit - go with the flow., The staff are such easy going friendly people and they will help you arrange whatever you need.
A great way to start a first trip to India
My wife and I took our first trip to India in January of 2019 and made the fortuitous decision to begin at Savista. When we arrived we found a beautiful old haveli in a bucolic setting, complete with sheep grazing in the field. We were greeted by our host, Bhanwar Rishyasringa, and his assistant, one of the lovely Rajasthani women working there. We could immediately tell that staying at Savista would be more like staying in a home than staying in a hotel. Bhanwar is charming, erudite, and sophisticated, and we enjoyed talking with him enormously as he enlightened us about the area and India. The staff was friendly and helpful, and it was a particular pleasure to see the women floating through the grounds in their vibrantly-colored saris. Our room was comfortable, with thoughtful touches that included hot water bottles in the bed each night to ward off the January chill. We were served breakfast outside and delicious dinners – which particularly favored South Indian cuisine - in a converted stable before a roaring fire. Bhanwar arranged for an excellent driver and helped us plan our excursions into Jaipur and the surrounding area. When my wife made an eating mistake in Jaipur and became ill, everyone at Savista was sympathetic and provided the care that helped her recover quickly. Bhanwar could not have been more gracious, and we were only sorry that we were unable to meet his wife, who was away. We could not recommend Savista more highly for travelers looking for a place of serenity and authenticity amidst the intensity of India.
Best Lunch In India Ever
My mom and I visited Savista for lunch after a day touring in Bagru. We were met by the retreats owner, Bhanwar, who showed us around his incredible property. We loved hearing the history of the area and we both could have happily stayed for hours listening to his stories.
We were served lunch outside in a charming garden patio surrounded by fields and silence. The food was all freshly prepared using much of the produce grown on the land. It was absolutely superb.
I can not recommend Savista highly enough - both as a haven to go and stay and as a magical destination to escape the city and enjoy a most delicious meal.
I will most certainly be back...
Restful, Reinvigorating
I spent a wonderful 4 nights at Savista, enveloped in the hospitality of the hosts and staff, eating the most amazing vegetarian dinners, seeing the sites (and jewelry shops!) in Jaipur, and reading and writing in this beautiful and calming heritage hotel. I already long for a return visit with friends and family this time! Savista is outside Jaipur - but very easy to arrange for a driver for day visits - and offers a glimpse into rural India. The rooms are lovely, clean, spacious and with fans so that air conditioning was unnecessary (but available). Special bonus is the clean water, meaning you can drink from the taps here - no need for bottled water. Savista's hosts offer the right balance of engagement and leaving you to your own devices, and are always available to offer advise or support, as needed.
Slice of paradise
After travelling the golden triangle this eco farm retreat was exactly what we needed. Everything put on our table was harvested from the farm (they even make their own cheese!) and it’s the first time we haven’t had to drink bottled water because the water here is so pure. The owners were so welcoming, making us feel right at home and the staff were always smiling and friendly. Savista you were magic, so peaceful and relaxing. We wish we could stay longer!
A Magical Visit
I can honestly say I have never stayed somewhere as astoundingly wonderful as Savista Reteat. This was a once in a lifetime stay that I will never forget. The property has its own calming, nourishing energy and the retreat owners are some of the most welcoming, warm people I've ever met. I felt at home from the moment a walked on the property. If you are even considering booking Savista, book it NOW! You will be in for a magical time.
